Learning Disability and
Rose Awareness Week

(16 - 22 June)

Today Pioneer would like to draw a spotlight on two annual events we think deserves greater public awareness.

The first of these is Learning Disability Week which is a national campaign that addresses the contributions, challenges and personal experiences of individuals with additional needs whilst promoting greater understanding and tackling sterotypes to help create a more inclusive society.

This vision is shared by all of us at Pioneer Social Enterprise Ltd. in striving to help those with disabilities in leading full and productive lives that allows and encourage them to realise their potential.

It is estimated roughly 1.5 million people in the UK are recognised as having additional needs, so it is vital that schools, workplaces and communities reflect on how they can better integrate people who require support in society.

Secondly, Pioneer would like to take this opportunity to make everyone aware of Rose Awareness week, a celebration of the titular colourful plant that provides education on the varieties of Roses, its symbolism and encourage environmentalism through gardening.

The Event will be marked by a series of collective workshops, events and activities which mark the importance of this essential flower. Pioneer is home to a diverse and colourful collection of plants and vegetabes we grow in our garden- including Roses- which are tended to by our group of volunteers.

Happy Pride Month!

Happy Pride Month this June from everyone on our team at Pioneer Social Enterprise!

We are proud to stand with the LGBTQAI+ community and celebrate the power of diversity, equality and inclusion. We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, seen and supported, not just this month, but every day.

Our intergenerational Welcome Space is open to all. A place to meet others, make friends and connect, and take part in activities and share a healthy meal from our food bank. We are a safe space and we want everyone to feel able to be their authentic selves.

Take part in our volunteer program and gain experience towards the world of work, qualifications, or if you want to give back to the local community. Everyone is welcome.

For either volunteering or our activities, please inquire with us for an informal chat for more information.
